Military Provision for Lottery

Recently, the Enrollment Basic Education Circular was updated to reflect a change on the Military Child Advance Enrollment provision of the school code. Under Section 1302.1, a child whose parent or legal guardian is an active-duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the reserves, and who has received official military orders to transfer into Pennsylvania is allowed to enroll in a school district before establishing residency. The parent or guardian must provide a copy of the official military orders and proof of their intention to move into the school district. Proof of intention includes a signed contract to purchase a home, a signed lease agreement, or a statement from the parent or guardian stating their intention to move into the school district. The parent or guardian must provide proof of residency to the school district no later than 45 days after the arrival date stated in the military orders.
